October 2008. The Jeannie Lane foundation is pleased to make a donation to Collins Lane Elementary in Frankfort, Kentucky for some much needed equipment. Stay tuned for the full story and presentation, and news about our next book drive and fundraiser! April 2008. The Jeannie Lane foundation would like to congratulate James Humphrey of Bagdad, KY, who won the hand crafted Berry Lane mountain dulcimer in our fundraising raffle. The drawing was held on April 16 to celebrate Jeannie's birthday. The raffle raised about a thousand dollars for the foundation. Thanks to all who participated. Please stay tuned for foundation updates and our next fundraiser! November 2007. Thanks so much to everyone who came out to our first barn party benefit! We raised some much needed money, collected lots of children's books, and had a fantastic time! We will be organizing another fun event for the spring and hopefully it will be just as successful. Also, we have teamed up with Goodsearch.com and Change.org to improve our efforts online. Goodsearch makes it easy for you to support JLF just by searching the internet or making online purchases. Just go to Goodsearch.com, type "Jeannie Lane Foundation" into the "Who are you goodsearching for?" box, and use their simple Yahoo-powered search engine. Make it easy by making it your homepage or by installing their toolbar. Change.org makes it safe, easy, and fun to donate online. Please consider joining our fundraising community. Welcome to the new home of the Jeannie Lane Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting public school teachers and classrooms. The Jeannie Lane Foundation is 501 (c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to funding scholarships, helping new teachers and needy schools build classroom libraries, awarding grants to teachers for creative and innovative projects and ideas, and promoting educational enrichment activities. Our organization currently focuses on Central Kentucky, with hopes to someday expand. We also hope in the future to continue the annual blood drive that Jeannie Lane started and provide resources and support for teachers living with cancer. We are currently at work developing our website, and we plan to have information about the foundation and its mission, and how you can help. Please note that some of the links and other pages might not be working just yet, and please check back soon!
Tickets will be available at the Nov. 3 Barn Party Benefit (see flyer above), from JLF board members, and hopefully online in the near future. Until our contact form is active, you may contact us by visiting our Myspace page. |
A little about Jeannie Lane … Jeannie Lane lived and breathed teaching and was always thinking of creative, effective, hands on, and fun ways of reaching her kindergarten students. A recipient of many teaching honors and awards, she inspired countless students, parents, and educators with her spirit and gifts. Jeannie passed away in November 2004 from bladder cancer. She continued to teach throughout her illness, propelled by her strong will and courage. She was active in cancer awareness, support, and organizing an annual blood drive.
